    Day 21. Como, Italy.

    August 25, 2019 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Lake Como also known as Lario is located at the foot of the Swiss Alps against the Swiss border. It’s inverted Y shape was carved out of the mountains by a glacier.
A quiet day today. Unfortunately I am quite sick with some vomiting and diarrhoea and strong headache and stomach cramps. I may have food poisoning I think from the joghurt in Jordan.
We have a lovely room in Como, Residence Diaz, in Via Armando Diaz. Ron battled with the washing machine which had a lowest setting of 3 hours, while I rested. Unfortunately Ron also became ill later in the day.
We walked along the lake this morning. Beautiful houses, boats and stunning crystal waters. Lots of buskers and artists along the esplanade walk. Gelati and pizza shops and bars with snack meals and pasta restaurants everywhere. Also never ending fashion, shoes, beauty product stores. White glittery sandshoes are definitely in.

Day 23. Como to Bergamo, Italy.

    August 27, 2019 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Our last morning in Como. We put our bags in storage at our fabulous apartment, Residence Diaz. Ron wanted to swim in Lake Como but settled for a dabble.
We walked the Diva Foranea jetty to the Life Electric Fountain. The Life Electric” monument, in honor of Alessandro Volta, is erected at the centre of Lake Como’s first basin facing Cavour Square. Life Electric is inspired by the electrical tension that occurs between the two poles of a battery, Volta’s great gift to humanity. The piece combines the natural elements of light, wind and water.
Took a photo with the 1838 statue of Alessandro Volta, the alleged inventor of the electrical battery & discoverer of methane.
It was great just just to wonder around seeking out new places, having a ginseng latte and sampling the local pastries.
Come the afternoon we collected our bags from our apartment and wondered off to the train station. We knew the cheapest and fastest train left at 1.13 so be splurged on First Class tickets and enjoyed the 37min ride.
It was great to be back at the Milan Central Station, the site of our favourite winter travel story. It was easy to find the bus to Bergamo Airport. We sat in the front and called for a shuttle to our luxury hotel; Winter Garden.
