I spent the afternoon going to the beach, and walking along the several mile long seaside promenade that goes all around the city.
The streets were crowded at night with people eating at dozens and dozens of restaurants and tapas bars.Read more

Kilometer zero at Finisterre Lighthouse

When I was at Finisterre last year it was so cloudy and foggy that I wasn't able to see the sunset. I'm happy that I got to experience it this year. I'm also happy that I didn't have a terrible cold like I had last year! 😀Read more

Halfway between Muxia and Finisterre. Beautiful beach here, but the water was a little cold.

Beautiful day in Muxia. There was a festival featuring pirates and bagpipes. Bagpipes in Spain might seem strange, but this corner of Spain, Galicia, has a strong Celtic heritage.
I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere, but it meant that all rooms and hostel beds were fully booked, except the municipal albergue, which doesn't accept reservations. Fortunately, it was a nice place to stay, with fantastic views from the rooftop terrace. Not bad for 6€.Read more

Nice walk between Negreira and Santa Mariña. Galicia is very nice, and I've been enjoying wonderful weather. I'm stretching out the walk to Finesterre by walking to Muxia first.

TravelerI got to Santiago on Monday. I was going to start walking to Finisterre with Dom and Jo, the Australian couple we met back in Larrasoaña, but Dom got sick, so they rested a day, then took the bus.

O Cebreiro to Samos

Beautiful walk this day to Samos, which is one of the prettiest little places on the Camino. It has quite an impressive monastery, which draws tourists. It has been harder to get a place to sleep eacnight from this point on, because many Spaniards and other Europeans walk this portion of the Camino in the summer. Including many youth groups. There's one group of 105 from Andalucía.Read more

Traveler It's a tinto de verano - red wine and lemon soda. Usually they are mixed together, but they layered the wine over the soda.

A looooong day

I walked about 21 miles today. There was no where to stop for the last 10.75 miles, but fortunately, the weather has been very good. About 80° with a breeze. My feet are very sore!

Castrojeriz to Población de los Campos.
Nice walk with mor sunflower fields and a man walking the Camino back towards France with a donkey!
I stayed at an amazing albergue. Only 12 beds, each in it's own alcove. The lower beds had privacy curtains, and the uppers were like tiny rooms accessed by tiny staircases.Read more
