Pre-trip Summary 行前自驾游总结

Through out this 1,320 kms self-drive excursion into
Patagonia region, we truly enjoyed the magnificent view of the wilderness, vastness and nothingness of the Tierra del Fuego and Strait of Magellan.
In sharp contrast, Ushuaia, Rio Grande and Punta Arenas are rich in history, vibrant and colourful. Clean streets, orderly traffic, delicious food and super friendly locals signify our wonderful experience.
The rental vehicle also contributes to the success. It is a Nissan Frontier 4x4 pickup truck, diesel engine with manual transmission. It is rather light, shakes a lot in strong wind, but still tough as a little beast. It has enough torque to clime up steep hills often without shifting down. Just that the steering is a bit lighter than my own GMC, took me a few turns getting used to. Nowadays in North America 4x4 diesel manual transmission pickups are extremely rare. This Frontier gives me the real joy playing with the shift stick.

租来的车也为此次行程增色不少。一辆尼桑Frontier 4x4 皮卡，柴油引擎、手动挡。车身相对较轻，在强风中摇晃明显，但仍然像一只小野兽般结实耐用。扭矩充足，爬陡坡时常常不用降档。只是方向盘比我自己的 GMC 轻很多，经过几次转弯之后才适应。如今在北美，柴油 4x4 手动挡皮卡 已极为罕见，这辆 Frontier 让我重新找回了“玩变速杆”的纯粹乐趣。Læs mere
