Xishuangbanna – the last oasis on the Earth’s Tropic of Cancer – is a treasure trove of China’s biodiversity and a living museum of the origin and evolution of Pu’er tea. For millennia, ancient tea trees have grown in the rainforest, while the Ancient Tea Horse Road served as a cultural bridge connecting the central government with the frontier, bearing witness to centuries of ethnic integration.
