Visiting Morocco means diving into its rich food culture. The tagine quickly became my top choice—nothing beats the melt-in-your-mouth lamb slow-cooked with spices. Before lunch break we stopped here hoping can buy some fish from local fishermen. Kevin tried two locations but no luck. Although did not buy the fish as planned, we truly enjoyed the scenery. Surprisingly we spotted some fossils.

Today we came down to the beach driving about 30kms on the sandy beach, just by the wave. Then we camped right by the Morocco Rally Base (N28°41’12” W11°06’45”). There are motorcycles, ATVs, cars and truck to race, by more than 300 rally drivers, with supporting staff the total head count is around 900.

Shortly after noon we arrived at top of the cliff overlooking Legzira Beach, where The Arch of Legzira (N29°26’26” W10°07’10”) is located. To say the descending path to the beach a bit challenging was definitely an understatement, at least for me. Thanks to the help by the expedition team and the two young ladies I went down safely.
The arch extends to the ocean. The view was breathtaking, everyone was just enjoying the scenery and totally relaxed. Before Sept 2016 there was another arch just a bit south, however collapsed due to mighty force of the Mother Nature.
Climbing back to the top was easier than coming down, but once up I still rested a few minutes to catch up breath. Oh well.
2025-04-06 白色海滩到米尔莱夫特 131公里沙漠/铺装路面 6小时

After about 10km from the Arch of Legzire we arrived at Camp Erkounte Park, staying for the night. The huge camp has nice view to the Atlantic Ocean, and is well equipped. It provides toilets, shower, laundry, washing basins for various food items from vegetables to seafood, fresh water supply and dumping station to the RVs, and a clean and friendly restaurant that reasonably priced.

Along the highway there are quite a few coffee vans. Coffee machine was fixed to the back of the van, powered by a combination of solar panel and battery. We stopped here (N30°09’20” W09°32’29”) having a coffee break.
I asked for an espresso, it was good. During our coffee time, there were a couple of drivers dropped in for coffee, they all brought their own small cups, so a couple of paper cups were saved.
Good service, simple, quick and convenient. Worth every penny to stop here have a nice cup of coffee.
2025-04-07 米尔莱夫特到马拉喀什 386公里铺装路面 6.5小时
沿途不时可以看到咖啡车。后门打开，里面安装了一台咖啡机，由太阳能版加电池提供电力。我们停下来在这里 (N30°09’20” W09°32’29”) 喝咖啡。我要了浓咖啡，喝起来味道很不错的。在我们停留的那一会儿时间，又有几辆车停下来买咖啡，他们都自己带着小咖啡杯，少用掉几个纸杯。

Closer to the moterway exit to Marrakesh, ladies truck in fron of us reported an emergency of loud hissing air leaking sound. They asked us to visually check if tires were ok, however rear tires looked normal. After communicated with Kevin they made a quick stop we checked all the tires were ok. We continued a few moments when approaching the toll booth ladies were really worried about the leaking sound, so stopped on the side asking Kevin to check it out. Turned out it was the fastener was broken causing high pressure air coming out from the turbo. Kevin the fix-all master holding the air pipe in place using ziptie and ratchet strap. In about 20 minutes we were back on road to the base camp! Very impressive.

This trip has truly been a groundbreaking experience for us. We had the chance to venture into the wilderness, traversing sand dunes, dried-up lake beds, riverbeds, and climbing up and down hills (among countless other terrains!). After tidying up our living unit, we took a taxi to the airport to fly to Amsterdam for our post-expedition tour.

During the expedition each day we had the routine of inflating and deflating the tire for the different terrains, and very important reapplying the cap to the tire valve to keep sand dust from clogging it and causing air leak. However, I call Kevin and Ian at least twice asking for an spare cap since I lost it. Now in the hotel in Amsterdam I just found one from the corner of my deep pocket! Oh well
It is a souvenir for the trip.
