After one week of surfing, today I started the bike journey through the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. It is the last preparation before my big journey to Nepal (www.cyclingfornepal.com), which I start on the 20th of August, 2016.
In six days I need to be in Marrakesh which is the destination of my adventure and than take a bus back to Agadir, wherer my flight will leave the next morning. But before I talk about the end of the trip, let's start with the first day.
It was a great one. Spectacular landscape and that was only the beginning. What niggles me was the very long uphill I had to achieve. But the reward was an awesome view and a great descent. I'm curious on what the next days will bring.Read more

When I came to this spot, I was cycling uphill for over 4 hours and I wasn't even on top of the mountain pass. For my next trip I will definitly look for maps with better altitude indication.
It was already late afternoon so I put up my tent and enjoyed the nice sunset. Because of the long uphills, I'm in time delay. So I have change the route to make up some kilometers. But first I need to get over that pass tomorrow.Read more

After I got over the pass this morning I had an awesome descent. When I arrived in the valley, I decided to cycle to Taroudant. It is a bigger City. Right now I'm in Taroudant sitting in a cafe, drinking tea and writing this text.Read more

After a whole Day on the bike I arrived in Tafingoult late afternoon. From there my route goes right back in the heart of the Atlas Mountains. Again I was in time delay. In front of me where 2000 meter of elevation to cycle. I started cycling and fortunately a truck stopped by and took me up the mountain.Read more

Last night, I stayed on top of the mountain in a small accomodation. From there was it an epic descent towards the highest mountain in North Africa "Jbel Toubkal". I rode through many small villages with very friendly people. It was almost a perfect day, but it got overshadowed by children which threw stones at me. Fortunately I didn't get hit. I can't understand what is going on in their heads. In the evening I arrived in Asni, a small city close to the Toubkal. I got invited by a very friendly man to dinner at his house. His family was there and it was a nice impression how a moroccan family lives.Read more

The final day. Today I arrived in Marrakesh. It was an good feeling to make it in time. I'm staying in a hostel close to Medina. Now I will relax for little bit and walk around Medina. Tomorrow I'm taking a bus back to Agadir, stay one more night in a surf camp and than take a flight back to Munich.
It was an awesome journey. Not much worked out as planned, but that is what's all about by adventuring. I'm feeling well prepared for my trip to Nepal.Read more
