• Animal Kingdom and that f@#£ing cold

    26 januari, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We were up reasonably early to head to Animal Kingdom for breakfast with characters. We picked up Amy and Jason on our way and parked in the Unicorn 🦄 parking lot. Win!

I was feeling a little better, so all seemed good. We got into the park quickly and walked up to where breakfast was with stops to try and see some of our favourite animals along the way, though none were playing ball.

At least breakfast was ready and waiting. We ate plenty and had fun with characters. Apparently, Mickey did not cook it all for us, and Donald had eaten plenty of it and was full.

For scientific purposes, it was necessary for a test to be conducted between Mickey waffles and Simba waffles. The conclusion was that they tasted the same, but the feel was very different. Simba won on crunchy bits, whereas Mickey won on whether the next bite was a surprise or not (random syrup distribution). Ultimately, Mickey won - you can't beat the classic.

After breakfast, we waited for the Safari. It was probably the longest I've waited for it at about an hour, but it was worth it. Got some great looks at the Hippos, Giraffes, and Elephants and pretty decent views of White Rhino, Wildebeest, and Zebra.

We wandered the park and tried to see my absolute favourite, the well-endowed bats, but they were sadly camera shy, or at least their endowments were. 😉

It was a chilly start but had warmed up quick, so it was definitely time for a drink. Amy and Jason had cocktails, and Heath and I had Dole Whip floats. There was a mix-up with my hoarse voice, and we ended up with an extra one. Oh well, not the end of the world to have to eat more dole whip.

After the refreshment break we went to It's tough to be a bug, where you wear bug glasses. It's cute, and Jason had never seen it, so we educated him on it. Especially as it will be closing in the near future. Which is kinda sad, as I like it, especially all the other screaming people when the black widow spiders attack 🕷🕷🕷 and the hornets sting your back 🐝🐝🐝

By this time, I was starting to really struggle to breathe and felt a little dizzy, so we thought it was time for a break. Heath and I headed to the hotel, and Amy and Jason went off to find a nice place for some drinks in Disney Springs.

After a couple of hours sleep I was still feeling dizzy so bailed on the rest of the day, after much deliberating because it meant missing dinner with Amy, Jason, and Walter and Jean (not Walter and Eugene, v confusing I know). Heath went out for dinner, and I slept in the hope of recovery for future days. Stupid f!&^@ing cold and cough.

And it turns out nobody took a picture while they were out. 🙃
