We set out on a remodel this summer while we were away, so that we didn't have to live through the mess. What started this all was our goal of brightening up our space. A neighbor connected us with a designer named Marian, since neither Tom or I have the decorating gene 🥴. She is very talented and practical! While we knew we wanted to lengthen the living room windows to the floor, we thought it would be a good opportunity to paint and make other changes too -- so things snowballed from there. We replaced all of the flooring in the main area with LVP (took out tile, hardwood, and carpet), painted the walls SW Natural Tan, added a media wall and dining room accent wall, updated the lighting, painted the kitchen cabinets SW Pearly White & SW Iron Ore, added a new backsplash, updated some furniture, and added accessories. It's a big improvement!! 🙂Baca lagi

2. Front Room

This room was basically empty before. We weren't sure how to furnish it, and when Marian suggested this, Tom loved the idea. Painting the shutter white was transformational!

3. Powder Room

This powder room was previously painted a rust color and was rather dark. We added a recessed canned light, as well as a 3-light pendant instead of a vanity light. The mirror is huge compared to what was there before. It is so much brighter.Baca lagi

4. Living Room

OK, the windows are what started all of this! We went with floor to ceiling instead of a big slider, because we could retain the headers and it was less than half the cost. The fireplace wall replaced a dark painted accent wall and a dark media cabinet. The dark window blinds are gone. We think we can get away with no window coverings. It's definitely checked the box of lighter & brighter!Baca lagi

5. Kitchen

Oops -- I meant to say Pendant lights, not pedestal 🥴. The kitchen really is transformational. I wasn't sure about painting the cabinets, concerned about chipping and peeling. But, they turned out great, and look so much better than before! Marian was able to design around our original granite countertops and black appliances, both of which are in good condition so we felt it would be wasteful to replace. The backsplash is new -- she chose a large tile with a hint of gray to complement the busy countertop.Baca lagi

I forgot to mention the flooring in my videos -- it looks great! We went with higher 5" baseboards too (Marian joked that she has baseboard envy 😉). They look very nice. We still have more to complete, including the bedrooms and bathrooms, but it is so nice to have the main area big & messy stuff complete. Marian is amazing!!Baca lagi
