A testing day.

Woke up feeling pretty good. Then I thought, “I'll change that, I'll phone Telstra and complain about the noise on the land line.”
We live with some noise on the line most of the time. Recently though, it's got quite loud and makes some calls quite a challenge.
The young lady who took my call, somewhere in China, was very efficient. She was determined, despite my interjections, to go through her checkpoints in the order prescribed. I humoured her by doing all the usual checks such as unplugging the phone, waiting ten seconds and plugging it back in. The noise was still there. She supposedly checked our line and informed me there was no fault on the line. To start with, I tried to be polite, honestly I tried very hard. The more I said there was a fault, the more she said there wasn't.
I said, “this call is being recorded for future reference, put me on to your manager.” She kept saying there is no manager, I kept asking to speak to her manager. This became an endless, and pointless, loop, so I said, “just send a technician.”
She finally said 1.00pm tomorrow. I agreed. She then wanted to know what time I would be here till. “I'll be here from 1.00pm onwards.” What part of that she didn't understand I don't know. She wanted to know a time I'd be there until from 1.00pm. I said midnight.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Janette doesn't want to be left out - she thinks she'll phone our electricity supplier this afternoon.
Yes, thought it best to get all this over and done with in the one day so whilst John was outside digging post holes with the tractor I braved contacting AGL. This company estimate our electricity account (the smart meter doesn’t work) and mail an account and issue an online account for our home - great except each one has a different total amount due even though they have the same account number. The wait for assistance is extensive. Tried on line with a “virtual assistant” who could not understand the problem and asked me to present it as a problem they could understand! Eventually sorted it with a “real person”.
John got the posts in, nice and straight and we are ready to screw the horizontals on and then once they are painted - job done.もっと詳しく
