• Dolphin spotting cruise on Jervis Bay.

    December 22, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Met up with Trish and Paul for brekky. Walked up the street and decided on a small cafe with tables on the footpath. Replete with food, we went back to the motel to prepare for our one and a half hour dolphin spotting cruise.
It was recommended we go to the quay by about 10.00am for boarding and a 10.30 departure.
We headed out into the bay with the captain giving a commentary. Part of this included the warning that there are no guarantees that we would see any dolphins.
For quite some time it looked like we wouldn’t see any. We headed toward a reef where the surrounding water is fairly shallow and is a feeding ground for the dolphins.
Almost an hour in, one surfaced. The captain suggested she was a mum with a two year old. Mum has a bite out of her dorsal fin received when she defended her baby from a shark. The baby then made an appearance.
We think there were three in the area.
It was time to head in and let another of the spotting boats come in and show their passengers some dolphins.
