Pick up for today's guided tour to Port Arthur was 8.00am at our hotel. There are eight of us today.

First stop was Eaglehawk Neck - a narrow strip of land just before Port Arthur. This neck made security a lot easier as this was the only potential overland escape route.

On arrival at Port Arthur our guide, Huw, picked up our tickets for a guided tour at 10.30 and boat trip around the Isle of the Dead at 12.20.

Ron was our guide. He was very knowledgable and gave us a really good insight into 'life' at Port Arthur.

The Isle of the Dead, as the name implies, was Port Arthur's burial ground. The lower part of the island was for convicts while the higher ground was for non-convicts.

After the trip around the isle, we had time to have some lunch before being back on the bus at 2.00pm.

On the way back to Hobart, we detoured a little to look at the picturesque and historic town of Richmond. This little town is probably most famous for its old stone bridge. It is Australia's oldest, still in use bridge.
