Hard to eclipse this birthday!

Checked into our chalets in Swansea. They were right on the seafront with balconies overlooking the water.

We had heard of spiky bridge at spiky beach so went for the short drive to have a sticky. Set in the concrete on top of the walls are vertical stones - hence the name. Went over the road to look at spiky beach - a nice little sandy cove.

It's Paul's birthday today. We dined at the Saltshaker restaurant in Swansea. Food and service were excellent. Janette had quietly bought some birthday candles during the day so we could have the restaurant put one on Paul's dessert.

The restaurant was absolutely packed and flat out. Because of this, we decided to have wine and chocolates on our verandah. Once back we realised that we had the candle but no matches. Janette put the candle into a chocolate and presented it to the birthday boy. We suggested that, instead of blowing it out, he should try to light it.

As we drank our wine, dusk started to fall and the moon rose from above the hills across the water. It was then that we remembered there was going to be a lunar eclipse.
