HakoneDecember 29, 2018 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 3 °C
We took a day trip to Hakone, which is about 80kms below Tokyo and is part of one of Japans national parks. The area provided great views of Mount Fuji and we were pretty lucky to get a sunny day here too, although the temperature was near freezing.
We checked out the open air museum which included artwork by Picasso, and other well known artists. There was also a lot of weird abstract and sculpture art there which had descriptions of the artists interpretation of the piece. Yet to me some of them just seemed completely meaningless, but that’s just my interpretation.
After failed attempts at trying to be an art critic, we checked out the main attractions. We got a pass which you can use to do a loop of the area via train, tram, gondolas and a boat (which looked like a pirate ship). The views you get are pretty scenic which takes you post a volcano which is spurting out bits of sulphur, Mount Fuji and Lake Ashinoko.Read more
