    I could not end our first full day in Rome without dedicating a page to our evening...What an idyllic spot to sop for some delightful refreshments! Our rooftop locale hit all the right notes until none of us really loved the menu🥴 No matter! Just another opportunity to land at yet another atmospheric street side restaurant to partake in pizza, pasta, and perf house wine ($6 for a carafe!) and our server Victoria ensured us a primo evening!🍕🍝🥂Read more

    Day Two in Rome

    Our journey on day two wound us through the city on our way to our tour of St. Peter's Square in Vatican City, where we happened upon a lovely local market that was a feast for the eyes but only a few small samplings for the stomach! I am always suckered into fresh flowers and plants which were abundant! We also were able to take in the original track where the chariot races were held, and yet more ruins and eye-catching spots...not to mention our harried lunch and a delicious grapefruit beverage!😆Read more

    The Vatican Museum

    Entering the Vatican Museum with our guide took us through an unending hall of sculptures into an ostentatious palace/home, which brought us to the entrance of the Sistine Chapel and all the works of Michelangelo's Biblical depictions.     Entering St. Peter's Cathedral was absolutely mind blowing. I think just the immensity of it alone was beyond my imaginings...What I've realized is that it's the ceilings that truly amaze me!     Walking Our Way to Dinner

    Our plan was to eat near Trevi Fountain, but after a day at the Vatican and unknowingly taking the scenic route to the Metro, we were on the verge of hangry🥴 It seemed wiser to find food than to insist on our destination, but of course that turned out to be easier said than done. Finally, though, we were led to a completely charming and perfect spot to celebrate our 28th anniversary and enjoy yet another delicious Italian meal served by gracious hosts!Read more

    Day Three Wrap Up-Trevi Fountain

    We finally made it to Trevi Fountain with hundreds of other people! Perfect spot for a few photos, and were able to watch how it is done by a few aspiring influencers🙄 we managed to find a spot for a post-fountain beverage and did some needed shopping along the way where we met Joy, who handily set us up with a few samples and sippers!Read more

    Frascati

    We took a 25-minute trip on the train out of Rome to visit the "City of Wine" - Fruscati. We were given a tour of the city (visiting a community wood-fired oven and sampling their smoked-pork sandwich) and then taken to a 9th generation family-owned winery surrounded by ancient vineyards and olive groves. We were told the history of the location and then set down to a three course lunch at the entrance their wine cellar - and of course we got to sample three of their wines. So fun!Read more

Our guide walked us though the downtown and gave us some history and highlights of the area, as well as a sample of wine and a bit of pork sandwich from an historic bakery to whet our appetites for the next phase of our experience😋Read more

The Minardi family farm offered us a little "taste" of Italian farm and vineyard life, giving us some of their history as well as a delicious four courses and no shortage of accompanying wines!!     Long Day Getting back

    After a 10.5 hour flight from Rome, waiting (sleeping) in Dallas/Ft. Worth for the last leg home to Boise.😴
