    First Night Dinner

    Back in Bucharest and only off the plane and straight into the old town for dinner. We headed to Caru’ cu Bere… it was recommended by Hannah’s Romanian friend in L’pool and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was great, the music was good and the dancing was lovely to watch.Read more

  • Palace of the Parliament

    First stop on the trip was the Palace of the Parliament. One of the largest buildings in the world, and the heaviest, it was built by the communist party, particularly the dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. However, the government was overthrown and communism removed before the building was finished. Some of the communist elements remain, such as two large stair cases which was made purely for the leader and his wife to walk down. Our tour lasted well over an hour and in that time we only saw around 4% of the building.Read more

  • Therme Bucuresti

    This evening was spent at a spa just outside Bucharest (yes an hours taxi still constitutes being just outside the city). The spa was absolutely fantastic, with tones of pools, saunas, minerals, sun loungers, outdoor pool and swim up bars. Would throughly recommend.Read more

  • Arcul de Triumf

    Nope the Romanians haven’t robbed this from Paris. This monument was built in 1921, and then rebuilt in stone in 1936, it commemorates Romania's victory in the First World War and the coronation of HM King Ferdinand and his wife Marie. Nowadays, the Arcul de Triumf hosts military parades beneath the arch each 1 December, Romanian National Day.Read more
