• Day 8 Reykjavik, Iceland

    September 21 in Iceland ⋅ ☁️ 48 °F

Due to rough seas and weather conditions, it is taking us longer to get to Reykjavík. The captain just announced that we will arrive there late, 4 PM today. Therefore, we are going to spend the night in Reykjavík and leave tomorrow at noon missing the port of Isafjordur, Iceland tomorrow.

Well, I was so proud of myself for having booked 2 independent excursions in Reykjavik and the following day in Isafjordur. (Just learned it from Darla!). Now I so appreciate all those times Darla organized the excursions.

I immediately cancelled Monday’s excursion. I had 1 hour before cancellation was up. Just in the nick of time.

Then I sent an email to today’s operator advising of our late arrival. I got an immediate reply and they’ll be meeting us at 4. The excursion will be shorten. So things will work out.

We attended a lecture on Kennedy Space Center. Again, very informative and interesting.

We met the 4pm private tour, it was shorten version. We stopped at a place where you see the Europe and North America plates/fault lines or whatever.

We also stopped to see the geysers. And the next stop was this huge massive waterfall! It was very similar to igauasu falls in South America. And finally to a volcano (distinct). Although the excursion was shorten because of arriving later into port, it was beautiful to see Iceland. Cold and rain yet warm with glacier and hot springs!
