    Story of the RV

    April 28 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 70 °F

Yesterday we had a massive change of plans. We cancelled our hotel on Sunday night and rebooked with our friends in Big Canoe, Ga. I changed the drop off location of our rental car from ATL airport to a suburban location near Duluth, Ga.

Monday morning we stopped by the Delta Community credit Union and ordered a cashier check. Test drove the 2023 RAM RV Van by Thor Scope 18A at the home of 2 retired Christian South Koreans.

This 2 year old RV only has 11,000 miles and 7 hours on the generator. Like brand new, well cared for Eugene who hated to sell it but needed to because of his HOA agreements.

We even had a quick breakfast that Song made for us.

We’re learning how to “once again” be RVers. The end of May we will be taking a massive road trip to the west coast, from Arizona, California Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatoon Canada from May 30 to August 1.

We have appointments to visit with the Avant retirees that live along our route. We normally take the missionary out for lunch, give then a goodie bag enjoy listening to their stories. These are my favorite times of ministry.

As we drove out of Georgia heading to Tennessee towards Illinois, we pulled over for some tuna fish sandwiches at a state rest stop. As we ate, Mary stop and talked with us through our screen door. She said “hey I had to take a photo of your Rv. I’ve always wanted one. I’m single and I’m driving back to Michigan right now and would love to have this size of RV”. We immediately invited her into the RV and told her a little more about the RV. She laughed hard when I told her we had only purchased it a few hours earlier.

We are struggling on what to name the RV. I’m thinking “Miss Ruth” since we purchased her during the 100th birthday celebration of Beverly Smith’s mother here in north Georgia.

We are thankful for our new purchase and incredibly grateful for the perfect timing of everything to fall in place.

  • Arriving at The gkids

    April 29 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 73 °F

We drove from our Walmart parking lot in Clarksville Tennessee to Ellen’s place. We stopped several times along the way. We finally got an atlas map at Walmart. I just have to have a paper map to follow where I am going.

Once we arrived I made salad and pb sandwiches. I was rocking Amanda and she fell asleep. And me too. A much needed sleep.

We went to Annie’s pre school program. So sweet.

Elizabeth was not feeling well and Ellen took her to the ER. the doctors are running tests on her and they don’t know when she’ll be released. Glenn drove to Champaign to pick Ellen up so she could get some stuff for Elizabeth. At one time she might be transferred to a hospital in Peoria.

With Elizabeth sick she can’t come to Texas, so we will be bringing Annie now with Amanda. Always flexible.

The original plan was for Elizabeth and Amanda to come home with us but that got changed when Elizabeth wasn’t feeling too well. So Amanda got the golden ticket! We left Fisher, Illinois at 6:30am. Had several stops.

For breakfast we stopped at Walmart, pulled our cereal and milk out and enjoyed our meal.

We pulled over in Sikeston Missouri at a park for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I drove for about 2 hours before heading to Little Rock where tornado warnings and heavy rains. We decided to stop at a hotel and just as we got into our room, the electricity went off for 1.5 hours.

In the meantime, Elizabeth, 7, is transferred to children’s hospital in Peoria, about 1.5 hours from Ellen’s house. I haven’t heard from Ellen yet to hear how she was doing with the infection.

After bfast at the hotel, we left around 8 am as I was having my Bolivia ladies weekly Zoom call with Virginia and Dorothy. Beverly didn’t make it.

We had several stops along the way. Gdaddy was waiting for us by the Tilley door. We had pizza. Then in Stewart traditional style, we went out for ice cream to TCBY to celebrate our new purchase.

The girls sat on the bench outside.

Next stop was Van. The girls ended up taking a nap as we drive i20. Aunt Sarah is keeping the double A’s (Annie and Amanda) for Thursday and Friday. We will get them on Saturday.

Sarah kept the girls for Thursday and Friday nights. Glenn drove up to Mineola to pick up the girls at noon time.

I immediately put their clothes in the washing machine. Then the girls took a bath. I roll up up their hair of course.

After hot dogs and macaroni and cheese, the girls went down for the night. They were tired and ready!

  • Travel day back to Illinois

    May 6 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 61 °F

Monday was a stay at home day. We wanted to take the girls on a bike ride again but it started to rain.

Amanda took a 3 hour nap. And they went in 1 errand with grandad. They loved the Potatoe soup I made for lunch and we finished the left overs for dinner.

Annie watched “itchy boots” with us. I rolled the girls hair up.

On Monday morning, we left Eagles nest at 4:45. Dark and raining. We made stops along the way at Walmart stores, rest areas and Pilot gas stations. Breakfast was at a McDonald’s in arkadelphia, Arkansas. For lunch we sat at the tables inside of a trucker stop and I made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

We had our monthly Zoom call at 2:30pm driving down the interstate. Then we had a special zoom call with Candace and the Jones just as we were arriving into Fisher.
