  • Trip to Guatemala changed

    21 de fevereiro de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

Our trip got changed because our Covid test did not arrive on time. Still has not arrived.

So, we drove back to Dallas. Since we had the car from our “Amanda Birth”, we just headed on down the Interstate.

Our original plan was to fly through DFW to Guatemala and then after our 7 day visit in Guatemala we would fly back to CMI, visit and drive home.

But since we had the RAV4 we just drove on back to Texas!

    Now for plan B!

  • Flight DFW GUA cancelled

    23 de fevereiro de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌧 27 °F

We stayed at a hotel near the airport that provided cheap parking and shuttle service.

After a relaxing lunch at DFW, we noticed the flight was delayed because the aircraft was arriving late into DFW.

Then we noticed the flight was cancelled. We checked about our 2 pieces of checked luggage. Can’t get them until after tomorrows flight.

All hotels are full. Weather is bad in Dallas. Or at least could be bad.

Glenn has gone to hotel to get the RAV 4 to come back and get me. In the meantime, I’ve been chilling at the lobby of Grand Hyatt.

    We’ll stay with Janie tonight.

  • Meltdown

    25 de fevereiro de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ⛅ 32 °F

We stayed 2 nights at Janies house. We watched YouTube videos of the Holderness family, Jeopardy and the Amazing Race. We also played Azure and phase 10.

We’re heading back to Guatemala-hopefully today we’ll make the flight.

We enjoyed the chocolate meltdown dessert even though we have NOT had a meltdown yet With all of this 5 days of traveling, zoom calls, cancelled flights, icy roads, late Covid test, driving from Illinois to Texas, breakfast with Karen and Thomas and pure exhaustion, but no meltdown.

    Just enjoying the journey.

  • Day in San Lucas

    1 de março de 2022, Guatemala ⋅ ⛅ 73 °F

After breakfast and my 8:00am Azmera zoom call, glenn and I drove to San Lucas to have lunch with Patricia. (No photo)

Then we headed to Barcelo hotel for the night.

We had a 4:15 all Guatemala missionary zoom call. Afterwards we took the shuttle to GUA to get our Covid 19 test. Negative!

We celebrated at our favorite steak restaurant, Media Cancha.

  • Last Day in Guatemala

    2 de março de 2022, Guatemala ⋅ ⛅ 55 °F

Today, we checked out of the hotel in the early afternoon.

It was a breeze going they security. My 12oz bottle of water made it through with out getting confiscated!

Glenn and I sat in the Food Court and wrote down the stuff we need to do in the next 24 hours. We have 5 packages to drop off at the post office and mail for folks. I realized that we didn’t have some addresses, so we quickly spent the 3 hours sending emails and text messages getting everything lined up.

Glenn and I made a list of stuff we wanted to take to Tyler out of the bodega such as misc tools, RV stuff and our Stewart sign.

Tomorrow we have a walk through at 2pm and closing on the house at 3pm

  • Mexican caserrole and Happy Meal

    7 de março de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ⛅ 32 °F

I kept Emily and Annie this morning. Emily did her classwork and one of the assignments was to prepare the famous Grammie Mexican casserole. She did everything except browning the meat. We also played a little bit, then it was time to drive to Dewey and pick up Elizabeth from pre-k.

We then drove to Rantoul to the McDonalds and then I wanted to find a Wendy’s for the Frosty but this small town didn’t have a Wendy’s so we settled for ice cream at home.

Annie took a nice long nap (2:30-4:30) in her pack n play in my room. I stayed in the room working on emails and also making photo albums in my iPhone.

After dinner everyone finished watching the SpaceJam2 movie although I didn’t watch much of it as I was sending emails to Judy and Debbie Murphy who’s mom has Covid and not doing well.

I closed the night off by rocking 1 month old Amanda to sleep.

When I settled into my room, I noticed Annie had pooped and taken her pull-up off. Where’s glenn when I need him?
