    Today, we listened to the Neil and Vela Show as Bob drove us to the hotel Barcelo to drop off our luggage.

    We then headed to our favorite steak restaurant. In the meantime, we waited for a team that arrived into The airport from Atlanta. The group of 9 were headed to Zacapa for 2 days and then Santiago at the lake for 2 days. The team is big into doing child sponsorships and continuing education.

    SMALL WORLD..BIG FAMILY story...in talking with Tracy, we found out that her adult son recently moved to Dallas, living in the Knox/Henderson area.

    The story gets better. Just 3 days ago, they decided to go to the 10:30 worship service at Northwest Bible Church. They heard the story of the bicycle trip and the book launching party on Sunday, the very reason we are going to Dallas tomorrow. Tracy was thrilled with the connection and what I call “Devine appointment”.

    Glenn asked the owner to come out and meet the group. The owner is a former semi pro soccer player from Argentina. Thus the delicious steaks. He loved meeting everyone. And he was even cooking the steaks!

    After lunch we walked to the Barcelo hotel. We enjoyed 1/2 hour in the pool.

    Our plane doesn’t leave til mid afternoon and tomorrow morning we will be getting with Marievelia and visiting with her for several hours. She needs some advice and Glenn is helping her sign into her social security account.    Leggi altro

    We enjoyed a delicious meal at Babe’s!

    Justin, new Mission guy at Northwest treated us.

    We talked about family, history, challenges on the mission field and about the #conversationscoaststocoast ride and the book launch tomorrow night.

    After an hour of Ubering, we headed over to Lanier and Kathy Burns for Fujitas and peach cobbler from Hamm’s in Terrell.    Leggi altro

    Delicious dinner just like mom

    After a morning of Ubering, a visit with Glenn’s sister in East Texas and then a visit with my parents, we ended the day with a Mexican casserole, salad and Oatmeal cake and ice cream prepared by Patty (where we’re staying).

    Patty loved listening to our Uber conversations. And we loved telling old stories. We’ve enjoyed our stay and appreciate her gracious hospitality. After the huge meal, Glenn and strolled around the block.

    While Glenn was with dad making a trip to Walgreens, mom and I stayed back and I read several chapters of Neil’s book, “The Listening Road”. Yep she fell asleep, but that’s typical these days.

    Oh, we did hear that today, day, the vice-president visited Guatemala.    Leggi altro

    Delay in Dallas

    Because we had mechanical problems on American Eagle from Champaign thru DFW, I misconnect my flight to Guatemala City.

    AA issued me a hotel voucher and meal ticket. Can’t complain.

    ReunionHotel Hyatt Regency - where Glenn and I got engaged!

    Celebration Sunday

    I took mom and dad to the outdoor service at Northwest Bible Church. Yes it was challenging to walk on the mulch. We sat under the trees. Good thing we got to the church early.

    First time for mom and dad to see everybody at church since February 2020 - 1.5 years

    Dad was happy to see everybody!
