We met Rhoda who is Tim Robinson’s aunt (future pastor of Northwest Bible Church-Dallas).

Rhoda met us at the port and drove us around town. Saw some beautiful buildings. We had a cup of coffee at the bay front cafe Then noon reservations at a fancy restaurant called “The Old Inn”.

As we talked, we learned that Rhoda has missionary relatives that attended Moody Bible Institute and served as missionaries in Africa. The Ardill family. We know them. John Ardill was the mission pastor at North Highland Baptist Church back in the 80s when we first went to Bolivia as missionaries with South America Mission. So Rhoda’s sister is Tim Robinson’s mother.

We had great conversations talking about family, ministry, the church today and Gods faithfulness. We talked about Tim’s upcoming roll as new pastor of Northwest Bible Church. And we talked about how NBC was so instrumental in my spiritual journey from the youth group to mission trip to my missionary calling and then to our service and work in Bolivia and Guatemala. It’s always so good to meet new friends. Thank you Rhoda for spending the day with us!

We had a Sea Day. Played games and had a good nap.

On Thursday, we docked in Cobh, Ireland. I had made arrangements to meet up with Craig and Nita Ledbetter, Bible Baptist missionaries in Cork thru “A Candle in the Window”organization.

They met us right at the port and drove us to Cork. My right leg was acting up terribly-I could barely walk, so the first stop was a pharmacy to get some strong medicine.

We stopped at a souvenir store to get some post cards. Then we walked to the English market. Imagine cheese, bread and even fish stalls. It was 1 block by 1 block.

We then drove to the Blarney castle and ate lunch there and I took another pain pill! We had salmon, chicken and mushroom and potatoes.

We paid entrance to the Blarney castle and gardens. We spent about an hour there. The rain had stopped by noon. Beautiful. It was a walk, but I held onto Glenn’s right arm,

On our way back to the NCL Sun, we stoped by their church and they gave us a quick tour. Then to Lidl grocery store to get some chocolate to hand to the crew these next few days.

We had a very enjoyable time with the Ledbetter’s. They were friendly yet very sensitive to my needs

Then Pointe du Hoc where there are German bunkers that would attack the Americans when they landed on the beach of Omaha. Notice the high cliffs in the back ground.

We took an NCL tour to Normandy. Our guide was French snd gad a very heavy accent that made it hard to understand. He talked on the 2 hour road trip to the beaches of Normandy. Yes I feel asleep.

When we got to the beaches we viewed a 20 minute show about the invasion. I don’t remember how many were killed. But sadly a high number.

We had lunch in a sea-side village. Delicious mushroom chicken, mashed potatoes and for dessert was hot apple strudel.

We stopped at Omaha beach. History lives here.

We took an NCL excursion that returned us back to the terminal.

We had an excellent tour of this huge cathedral. We learned some history.

Then we had 1 hour to stroll down High Street. We found a bookstore and was searching for a particular nursery book for Sherrie. No luck, then on to Marks & Spencer store and found some energy drink for Steve.

Because of traffic and one closure of highway it took longer than expected.

I did buy a bag of salt and vinegar chips.
