2017 and 18 this town square was bustling with pilgrims and the bars had chairs out and food all day, catering to a crowd that funneled in all afternoon.

Leaving Los Arcos early for today’s 31 kilometer leg to Logroño. I have a reserved bunk bed, so I don’t have to rush to get into an albergue. 9km until breakfast.

Viana is the last city in Navarra. Behind it, a little down the hill, La Rioja begins. Stopping for ice cream and a short break in the shade sounded just too perfect to pass up.
