    Historical Weather delays trip

    December 15, 2021 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Got to the airport at about 7:30am, checked my bags and passed through security only to find out that my flight was delayed by almost 4 hrs. There.is an historical weather event happening and winds are over 100 mph in Denver. No planes leaving or landing. Decided I didn't want to sit in ABIA. for 5 hours. Got rebooked for tomorrow and had Wendy come pick me up.

We had a nice quiet day and we did.get her Xmas 🎄 up.

  • New Years at the Cabin

    December 31, 2021 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 70 °F

The game room over the garage had a air hockey table that we had lots of fun playing. The kids really had a good time and despite the photo did not spend the whole time on their screens.

The views were wonderful when I braved the cold. There was lots of snow on the ground and frozen waterfalls on the side of the road when I took a walk.Read more

  • Oysters are YUCKY

    January 1, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Odin was so excited about harvesting Oysters with the grown-ups and his friends. They were huge Oysters. He was the only one of the children brave enough to try one. His face quickly changed from excited and happy to 'That's Disgusting!" In the video you can hear him say "it tastes like the sea" before he retched.Read more

  • Back to Seattle

    January 2, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 41 °F

Heading back to Seattle after 4 days in a hugh house with 11 people. It was a nice vacation. Both Odin & Silvia proclaimed they didn't want to ever leave.

Odin's favorite thing was the hot tub. I did not ever brave the cold to get in it.

Michelle did a lot of the cooking.. I did a lot of the kitchen clean up.

One night some of the adults and kids harvested a bunch of giant oysters. Odin was excited enough to try a raw oyster. Very brave! He declared it tasted like 'the sea' and then retched. I was extremely impressed when the next day he ate a fried one

  • Making Pomegranate Juice

    January 12, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 55 °F

Odin loves pomegranates. After dinner one night he decided to make pomegranate juice by squeezing the individual kernels by hand into a glass. It progressed to using a mortal and pestle and a strainer. He declared that he enjoyed it so much that he might want to do it for a living. I was amazed at how much juice he made (about a half a cup) and how much he loved it.

It was such a fun spontaneous activity.

When I was putting him to bed he said he wanted Heather to go buy all the Pomegranates at all the grocery stores. And he would make bottles of juice and sell them for $50 a bottle.

  • On my way 'home'

    January 15, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 32 °F

Flying back to Austin today. I am feeling more and more like a nomad without a home. Looking forward to having my dog, seeing a dentist (odd thing to look forward to I suppose) and hopefully hitting the road in a few weeks. I finally finished the painting I bought for Heather last year. It took me a few days but I really enjoyed doing it. Maybe I should start painting since I can't dance or do a number of other things.

Of course, paint by number for adults is not exactly painting but it does help me learn a few things that I have not practiced lately like:
    - holding and manipulating a paint brush
    - mixing colors and working with textures and consistency.

Guess I will start looking for another kit!
