Good Morning Cozumel!
18 Şubat 2023, Meksika ⋅ 🌙 25 °C
It was such a gorgeous morning as we docked in Cozumel at about 7:45am this morning. Find Penguins even knew where we were!! We had some breakfast and then were off on a Tacos, Chelas and Tequila Tour! It struck me that this kind of tour might be better suited for afternoon than morning ... but ... it is was it is!
We visited three different restaurants and enjoyed seafood, chicken and beef tacos over the course of the three. Beer was served at the first and last stop ... but ... during the middle stop we were treated to a fascinating sampling of locally and family produced and organically made tequila. It is only 38% alcohol but was absolutely delicious. They had 6 different levels of aging. The sixth one ...which I can't recall the name of was $200 USD per bottle ... and ... tasted like ever bit of it! It was so smooth!! And, as a top shelf tequila girl ... I was very happy!!
We also learned that the correct way to optimize the flavor of the tequila is to smell it twice (to open your palate) and then drink it all at once ... then ... inhale through the nose and then exhale through the mouth! It really made quite a difference to do it this way! Then they gave us samples of the tequila mixed with different flavors: coconut, mango, cinnamon (tased just like fireball but smoother), almond and coffee. Oh my gosh ... we were regretting having 'carry on' only luggage because we could't bring any home with us ... and ... being locally owned and family operated, they do not export their product.
Maybe the best part of our excursion today was meeting a couple from Ohio - Terry and Theresa Cooper!! They were an absolute joy to chat with. Our easy conversation reminded me of when we met Ray and Caryl on our River Cruise. We simply felt into their hearts in a meaningful way ... and ... laughed and laughed and laughed. It was the same with the Coopers.
We learned that Theresa is a nurse whose roots are cardiac surgery but who has gone on to evaluate clinical trials in opthamology. Terry is an ex navy man ... and ... an author. He is currently working on his fourth book but has published two science fiction books and a children's book entitled "Orange Detention". He gifted us a copy of it and I am eager to read it. While I was having the BEST massage of my entire life ... the old boy was doing his laundry and reading Terry's book. He said he was glad no one entered the laundry room because he was sitting there crying as he took in the story!
We enjoyed a little walk through Cozumel as well today. But ... all the shops start to look the same. Once we had our Christmas ornament purchased, we headed back to the ship. We had agreed to meet up with Terry and Theresa for happy hour. It was truly so nice to spend time with such beautiful souls.
All in all ... it was another great day! The next two days are sea days! Our stops in port are all done. It' hard to fathoom that our next stop will be for disembarkation.Okumaya devam et
