  • Punta del Diablo

    After a busy capital, we have arrived to sleepy fishing village of Punta del Diablo. The bus dropped us of at the bus station with very good WiFi and local map. We have decided to stay at the camp that was the closest to the beach. It took us a good half an hour and a bit of searching but we have found out home for next couple of days. The village gets super busy over the summer, on January and February when most of the locals arrive for their holiday. As we have visited earlier, we found place with beautiful sandy beaches that were completely empty and the entire place had rather slow atmosphere.En savoir plus

  • Zoo in Santa Teresa

    After a lovely walk to the fortress, we have discovered a little ZOO! There was many families with children running around and feeding the animals with corn that they bought for 10 UYU. Most of the animals had plenty of space for running around and cheeky goats changed theirs depending on the food that has been tossed around.En savoir plus

  • Beaches and waves in Punta del Diablo

    After a really disappointing first look at the ocean in Montevideo, the beaches in Punta del Diablo were a massive improvement. Completely deserted and out of season, they were beautifully clean, with plenty of shells and sand everywhere. Long walks along the local beaches was a fantastically spent time together. Just watch out for the sun, it is really strong.En savoir plus

  • Punta del Este

    On our way back to Buenos Aires, we have stopped in Punta del Este. It suppose to be a seaside resort full of hotels and pristine apartments. To be honest, not sure what is all the fuss about. The fingers pointing out of the sand is rather weird thing. As they are still only building a pavement to get there on foot, it is rather tricky to get there. The ocean does not look as nearly as clean as it was in Punta del Diablo and the town looks like Bulgaria in October, just way more expensive. The bus station has limited WiFi for 15 minutes and looks quite shabby. Luckily we have here only couple of hours before we get the bus to Colonia del Sacramento and then ferry to Buenos Aires.En savoir plus

  • Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur

    From the busy and full of people city we have taken walk to beautiful nature reserve that is located right behind the new business centre. Immediately we have found ourselves in the middle of partly jungle and partly marsh land. The entire reserve was created to protect huge amount of birds that have found their home there. For me, the absolute highlight has been spotting a hummingbird! Well, it was Petr who spotted him first and with words: "co je zač tenhle malej šmejd", pointed at him. I have stood about 10 minutes under the tree he was flying around trying to take a good picture of him. I did not really manage. They are pretty fast, fascinating little creatures. An interesting view has offered to us walking back when between the landscape has risen the highrise buildings from steal and glass.En savoir plus

  • All you can eat

    After being practically vegetarian in Uruguay where eating out is super expensive, we have found fantastic all you can eat restaurant. We weren't sure if they will allow us to enter as we have only outdoor clothes with us. They most certainly did and we have found ourselves in heaven. There were stations with cold buffet and desserts. Separately were located stations with freshly made pasta, Mexican, fish and gourmet dishes. And the all mighty grill (parilla) with more meat then we have seen in a very long time! This was exactly what we have been waiting for! Our first plates were of meat only. It was super delicious and the chef was trying his best to get is try all the different cuts of meat. He even made special sirloin steaks for us!En savoir plus
