  • Monteverde : Day 1

    17 april 2024, Costa Rica ⋅ ⛅ 64 °F

Today was our first real day in Costa Rica and it was spectacular. It feels like it has been 3 days instead of only one! We visited the Bat Jungle, the Butterfly Garden, and walked a gorgeous trail down to a waterfall. We rounded it out with dinner at Taco Taco which was to die for. I mean ceviche tacos and grilled elote? I've had nothing better in a long time. The people here are absolutely lovely so far, not to mention all the wonderful pups we also get to meet. 10/10 would recommend!Meer informatie

  • Monteverde ‐> Manuel Antonio - Day 2

    18 april 2024, Costa Rica ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

Today was exhilarating. We started off bright and early at TreeTopia Park up at the tippy top of Montiverde. Again, we met the most wonderful people and guides who were charismatic, helpful, fun, and taught us so much! The park is situated in the cloud forest which houses an amazing ecosystem with all kinds of incredible flora and fauna you won't likely see anywhere else. The trees took my breath away with how gigantic they were. While navigating the suspended hanging bridges we got to walk amongst the canopies and see all kinds of different birds and hear their songs. After exploring we got to ride the sky tram to the very top only to fly down 7 different zip lines! We both opted in to the 80 ft. free fall at the end which was the absolute best, but left our legs shaking from the adrenaline rush for sure. We spent a good chunk of the rest of the day driving down to Quepos where we are now checked in to La Mariposa for the next 2 nights. We just had dinner at their restaurant which was super tasty but VERY pricy. I don't know if we could have had a better view. During dinner we saw a monkey and a flock of macaws fly right by us, all during a gorgeous sunset. Magical doesn't even do it justice. ✨️Meer informatie

  • Manuel Antonio - Day 3

    19 april 2024, Costa Rica ⋅ ☁️ 81 °F

Today we got to sleep in! Our first activity did not start until mid-morning, so we got to wake up leisurely and eat breakfast together in our hotels' open air restaurant. Afterward, we got picked up by shuttle and taken to our day's first activity where we rode 4-wheelers, hiked to and swam in a waterfall, and ate a fantastic Costa Rican chicken and rice lunch.

When the sun set we got to go on a jungle night tour and see some awesome creatures that are difficult to see and/or hear during the day. We saw a family of caymen, some cool frogs and toads, a couple snakes, and unfortunately a few banana spiders. The banana spider (or Brazilian wandering spider) is actually one of the most toxic spiders in the world and it is WILD to have been so close to them.

  • Manuel Antonio -> Uvita - Day 4

    20–23 apr. 2024, Costa Rica ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

A little behind on my posts, apologies! Today we did the Manuel Antonio National Park guided tour. It was great! Our tour guide, Andre, was super awesome. He was having us laughing the whole time and taught us a ton about the animals we got to see. I think my favorite bird right now is the Stick Bird. They look a little like owls but are not. Their cries are very spooky... So spooky in fact that these birds are also called witch (or bruja) birds.

After that we drove about an hour down here to Uvita and checked in to our next hotel. This place is amazing. We have our own villa in the middle of the jungle. It's gorgeous! We went up to the bar to have drinks and an amazing dinner and actually met a couple who was also from Oregon, and had stayed in our previous hotel the same nights we were there! I'm loving the people we get to meet. They're all so kind!

  • Uvita - Day 5

    21 april 2024, Costa Rica ⋅ 🌙 75 °F

Today was the Corcovado National Park Tour. The journey there was an adventure in and of itself. We had to catch a boat to take us which took an hour and a half and we got to see dolphins on the way! The hike was a bit rough due to the humidity and plain ol exhaustion. It was more than worth it! In the park we saw some beautiful trees and of course all kinds of birds and wildlife. When we returned the hotel had decorated our room and it was so beautiful! I wanted to take the flowers home but of course have no way to. Again, another great day. ♡Meer informatie

  • Uvita - Day 6

    22 april 2024, Costa Rica ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

We went snorkeling on Cano Island today. It was through the same tour company so it was another 1.5 hour boat ride. For some reason today the water was extremely rough and we got knocked around a bunch both to and from the island. This was on Robbies top favorite adventures besides the zip line that we did. For me it was fun but a little rough as the mask I was using kept leaking and I was constantly trying to adjust it. Other than that, being able to observe the underwater world is amazing! There were schools of fish that would swim all around us. We saw a couple of green turtles and one hawksbill turtle. Robbie got to see a white-tipped reef shark (I was too slow). Just floating while looking at fish and letting the current sway you back and forth was so therapeutic. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures of our experience 😞. We had a GoPro but we were kind of rushed into the water and forgot to grab it.

The pictures I am including in this post are some extra pictures of our explorations. ♡ ¡Pura Vida!
