• Calf of man, Port St Mary and Castletown

    July 28, 2022 in Isle of Man ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

After a wet night we left the tent on site and pedalled up to the Calf of Mann and watched the seals. The tide was running through at rather a speed! Many ships ran aground here including the brig 'Lily' that crashed in 1852 with a cargo of gunpowder, it did later exploded with another 29 men lost their lives! On the way back we called in at Cregneash, an old crofter village and cafe where we had a slice of Bonnag, the local spicy fruit cake, ideal cyclist food! Scarlets nature reserve and St Michael's Chapel followed before we made our way to Douglas via Marine Drive, rather a beautiful way of decending into the town!Read more
