On our last day in Rīga, we had to check out at our hotel before noon but still had around 4-5 hours to spare before our train to Vilnius.
So we decided to check out the area southeast to the central station.

First, we visited the Rīga Market Halls. There were five of them, although only three were open. There was also a lot of outside area with more things to look at and potentially buy.

We didn't buy something but it was hard to resist the urge when walking around so much good smelling food... and hats.

Afterwards, we continued to a building that we had already seen from our hotel room for a while and wondered what it might be. Turns out, it was the Latvian Science Academy, including a panorama platform for visitors!Read more
