Driving around Banda Aceh

After enjoying the nice view with Pulau Weh in the background, we went to a harbour where I got introduced to Aceh style fishing boats. Afterwards we went to see one of the most important landmarks - a big fishing boat which was lifted onto the roof of a house by the tsunami. It's a monument today. It's impossible to imagine what happened there in 2004 but every person you meet lost loved ones that day. Over 100 000 people lost their lives due to the tsunami.Read more
