At the airport - about to leave...

Back at my favorite coffee shop at Terminal 2. Had some late night snack , yummy coffee and a really good tiramisu. Too bad they don’t have a branch outside of the airport.
Travelling via Sorong and Waisai to Kri

We flew via Makassar to Sorong which is in Papua. We then had to take a taxi to the harbour where we waited for two hours to get on the ferry to Waisai, which is the starting point for tours in RajaEn savoir plus
Discovering Kri

Kri really is paradise on earth. There are a few homestays on the island and one resort, but generally accommodation is very basic. However, you are rewarded with beautiful sandy beaches, palm treesEn savoir plus
Discovering Kri (part two)

Lumba Lumba Guesthouse which is the only homestay on the other side of Kri also has some amazing corals and fish which you can enjoy while snorkeling during high tide.
Just an average morning on Kri

I simply couldn't get enough of the beautiful sights - above and below the water.
Yenbuba Village

On our second day, our host took us on a trip to Yenbuba village where we also snorkeled. The village is very peaceful, the few people who we encountered seemed very happy to see us.
Yenbuba Jetty

Apparently, Jenbuba Jetty is one of the best snorkeling spots in Raja Ampat. I'd definately say so!
Lazy afternoon

After having lunch and spending at least some time in our hammocks, Philippe and I went to Yenkoranu Homestay hoping to get a cold Bintang.... fat chance. I went for a walk instead and Philipp workedEn savoir plus
Another boat trip

On our third day, Dani took us to the Manta Point, but unfortunately we didn't get to see any. The place itself was still beautiful and the way ther and to the following places was fun aswell.
Sauwandarek Village

We stopped at this little fishing village where we got a glimpse of the the local life. These children are really brought up in paradise.
Snorkeling at Sauwandarek Jetty

What can I say? Snorkeling was simply fantastic!
Snorkeling at Lumba Lumba Beach

I had planned to hike up to the sunset point but then decided to continue snorkeling instead as it was simply wonderful.
Last morning on Kri

On our last morning on Kri I went snorkeling at Yenkoranu Jetty one last time and said goodbye to everybody at our homestay. I sure missed them the next couple of days...
Moving

Dani and two of his sons took us to our next destination, Hamu Eco Lodge, about 10 km away from Waisai, where we immediately enjoyed a fresh water shower and the beautiful view.
Snorkeling at Hamu Eco

Snorkeling at Hamu Eco was not comparable to snorkeling around Kri, there were fewer fish and the visibility wasn't as good, but it was still fun and the coral gardens were very nice as well.
First evening at Hamu Eco

Went for an evening stroll along the beach. What a beautiful setting.
Snorkeling at Hamu Eco

Even though we were used to more fish and clearer water, we could not stay away.
Just another evening stroll

Bird watching

Our last day at Hamu Eco started with rain so at first we weren't sure whether we'd be able to do the planned trip to Piaynemo View Point. But we took the chance and did not regret the decision. WeEn savoir plus
Piaynemo View Point and Star lagoon

Maybe the grey sky kept the tourists away, we were alone when we got up to the viewpoint. We then had lunch at a homestay not far away before we hiked up to see the star lagoon. My personal highlightEn savoir plus
Snorkeling at Arborek village

We next headed to Arborek jetty where we went snorkeling. We did see some fish we hadn't seen before. And I got the perfect shot of a clown fish.
Back at Yenbuba Jetty

We were really happy to return to Yenbuba Jetty which is most likely the bet snorkeling spot around Kri.
