Cologne Cathedral - Interior

Cologne Cathedral was begun around 1248 and took almost 7 centuries to complete. It all started with a small relic of the bones of the Magi (the 3 wise men). Since then, it has been a place of pilgrimage. The bones were placed in a golden sarcophagus behind the main altar.
The largest window was totally blown out during bombing raids. Originally replaced by plain glass, it has now been replaced by a modern pixillated window after a design competition was held.Read more
