Took the first boat out of Vilanova de Arousa along with 29 other pilgrims. Our small boat can travel faster than the one that leaves at 10 am, so most of those who are walking straight to Santiago were on this boat. Vilanova de Arousa is famous for their mejillones, aka mussels. Sadly, the restaurant where we had dinner the night before did not have any. 🫠

There's literally hundred of these bateas where they cultivate mussels, and we witnessed one being harvested. Then I started thinking as to why we can't have these kinds of things in the Philippines.. 🤔Read more

This one was built in the 12th century by the first archbishop of Santiago. I wasn't able to go in and this was the only view I could get from the camino.

The pedron at the altar is believed to be the actual one where the boat used to transport St. James' body was moored.

Found St. Benedict, so of course, I had to light a candle (electric candle).

My destination for the day. This brings me closer to Santiago and makes the walk tomorrow more bearable. My left knee has been bothering me since Armenteira and it has definitely affected my speed. I hope to reach Santiago tomorrow in time for the Pilgrim's mass. 🙏

My lodging for the night is a renovated stone house right on the camino and right beside the church. I thought of jumping in the pool, but I fell asleep when I went back to my room to change. 😅😴🫠

The sun is starting to come out!

I started my walk alone as usual, and about 30 minutes in, I almost got lost, completely missed a sign. Thankfully, another person was behind me and we both figured out where to go. 20 minutes later, she missed a turn, and while i tried to call her, she couldn't hear me! I waited on a spot where she could see my light, and thankfully she turned around and saw me and started walking towards me. We both helped each other during that very scary time when the sun isn't out yet and the sign posts are kind of hidden. Just kindness from everyone - which is what this camino has been about. She later stopped for a cafe and I went on my way, thanking her for the company.Read more
