• Kenyas little France and a goat attack

    Aug 15–16 in Kenya ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

This and the next couple of days will be short riding days, giving us more time to interact with locals, hopefully spot some wildlife, and relax - after all, this is supposed to be a vacation, right?!

At the start we faced some rough roads before rejoining the tarmac towards Nyahururu, Kenya's highest altitude city.

While in the country side we once again had a lot of friendly people greeting us, as well as the occasional annoying children running after us, chanting "Mazungu" or "how are you, how are you..." followed by "give me money/sweets/your bike....".

For the night we stayed at Muringa Farm, still 20km before Nyahururu, owned by a very French Frenchman. He has been running the farm for the past twenty years, together with his ex-wife. Each of them trying their best only to be there when the other one is not around.

The farm is a huge, 10 ha, property, with horses, dogs, cattle, sheep, goats, bandas to rent and its own little restaurant by a lake. While most of the animals were friendly, one particular goat became the villain of the day when, after approaching for cuddles (or at least a forehead pat) it suddenly changed its mind and started a horned attack! All I'll say to that is: ouch...

As we arrived early, we opted for a "small" lunch, forgetting for a moment who was running the camp. And so our small snack turned into a surprise three course european-style menu. Same also later for dinner. Because a meal without starter and desert is not a real meal 🇫🇷

A with that, we had another day in the books.
