• La Rochelle.

    May 22 in France ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Morning walk, 9km into Châtelaillon-Plage to buy a bread roll at the be local bakery. We stayed last night in a Cabin at port Punay. It was where Neapolitan was famously exiled from.
We drove to a local Market at Châtelaillon after breakfast, and Bich bought Oysters. I bought Olives and had a coffee, at a local Cafe. All in Châtelaillon.
Then we drove to see La Rochelle. We’d stopped yesterday, briefly, and seen little, but enough to know we’d want to go back. Amazing town with an amazing history.

“La Rochelle is a coastal city in southwestern France and capital of the Charente-Maritime department. It's been a center for fishing and trade since the 12th century, a maritime tradition that's reflected in its Vieux Port (old harbor) and huge, modern Les Minimes marina. The old town has half-timbered medieval houses and Renaissance architecture, including passageways covered by 17th-century arches.”

We listened to an interesting podcast in the car.

Seafood lunch, etc and back to the campground, to our bungalow to sleep in Port Punay again another night.
