Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port

We drove up to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, the start of the (French) Camino de Santiago. We had lunch here, had a có look around. Beautiful Village, full of energy and Basque pride.

Went to see some very old Christian graffiti carved into the floor of the chapel in Erratzu, before leaving town this morning, and found lots of very militant new graffiti on some walls in the Czytaj więcej

We travelled onto Orio. Where Howie flew his Kite, Bich did some shopping and we camped at Orio Kanpina on the beach. Beautiful spot.

Amazing walk up to the mountain along the coast, over the mountain. Beautiful scenery.
Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum.

We left Orio making our way to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, as Michael chose it as our activity for the day. It was a V little to Arty for some of us, but Michael was in his element.

We camped at Camping Playa Arenillas. Bich cooked dinner. Great meal. No idea really where we are. Might aim for the mountains tomorrow.

We rented a soft top Mal from a surf school. Great little break. The water was cold but the waves were consistent. I ended up in the water for over an hour. Howie caught a few waves too. Bich and Czytaj więcej

I took Bich and the boys up to The Monastry and the chapels I saw this morning, after breakfast. Then we wandered potes and had lunch there. Swimming in snow melt was refreshing.
Camping El Redondo Picos Europa

We left Potes in the afternoon and drove up to Camping El Redondo Picos Europa, a campground near the vernacular we’ll catch to the top of the mountain, tomorrow morning.
Teleferico Fuente De

We got up early. Packed up the DMAX and drove the 200 meters over to the Teleferico Fuente De to go up 753m to 1823m altitude in 3 minutes 40 seconds.

It’s was a great day. We finished with a swim at the end at the base of the Teleferico Fuente De. Then a massive thunderstorm hit that we narrowly avoided. It hit as we got to the car. Timing! We Czytaj więcej

A morning walk. Beautiful day. We decided to loosely follow the Camino to Santiago. It took us over the mountains.

This is where the Pilgrimage Santiago De Compostela finishes. You could feel the energy of the pilgrims. Felt a bit of an imposter, but it was very interesting.
