Ruine Hinterhouse

Ruine Hinterhaus (Hinterhaus Castle) is a medieval hilltop fortress ruin located on a ridge of the Jauerling mountain above the market town of Spitz in the Wachau valley of Lower Austria.Parts of the Romanesque structure date back to the 12th and 13th centuries, with major expansions following in the 15th century.It sits at an elevation overlooking the Danube River and has been left to gradual decay since the 16th century.Read more
