• The Palace of the Parliament

    The Palace of Parliament (formerly the People's Palace) is a record-breaking building: made entirely of marble, it is the heaviest structure in the world, and with its numerous floors (some underground), it is also the second-largest building in the world by area, after the Pentagon.

    Its construction, during Ceausescu's dictatorship, required an incredible economic and human effort. Today, it houses the Constitutional Court and the Romanian Parliament, as well as various event halls and museums.

    This building is also the symbol of the city and the most important touristic attraction of Bucharest.
