The oldest cathedral in the United States

The St. Louis Cathedral, built between 1789 and 1794, is the oldest cathedral still in continuous use in the United States and dominates Jackson Square with its white walls and three towers.

In front of it stands the statue of Andrew Jackson, the general who, despite being outnumbered, defeated the British during the American War of Independence at the Battle of New Orleans.Read more
