• One World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial

    August 11, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

The 9/11 Memorial stands on the site of the Twin Towers attack.

At the footprints of the two towers, there are two enormous waterfalls covering over 4,000 square meters, with water cascading down the edges.
Around each fountain are metal plaques engraved with the names of nearly 3,000 victims.

Behind them rises the One World Trade Center, also called the Freedom Tower, inaugurated in 2014. It’s height of 541 meters tall (1,776 feet) is a clear reference to the year of American independence.

The 9/11 Museum is also located in the same area. The museum contains artifacts, photos, and stories of the tragic event and the rebuilding process. We didn’t go inside due to time constraints.

Finally, just a short distance away, there is a bronze plaque dedicated to the first responders who acted after the attack and to those who lost their lives during the rescue operations.
