  • Were out for the day

    June 21, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Setting off for a day out on our bikes! This is a first! And what a day for it! The first day of Summer looks like it will be perfect weather and the sun is out, finally! Not entirely sure where we'll go but I would like to see Bibury, all the pictures look stunning.Read more

  • The Waterfront Cafe

    June 21, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Our first stop for the day, for a delicious breakfast at the Waterfront Cafe. This place is beautifully set on the banks of the Thames and a gorgeous place to enjoy the sunshine.
Our next two stops were motorcycle based; Infinite Motorcycles, so I could look at protective jeans; and Honda Blade in Abingdon, so I could look at a bracket for fixing a topic to. Then it was time to hit the road for Bibury via the he scenic route.Read more

  • Beautiful Bibury

    June 21, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

After finally making it onto the right track we meandered through the English countryside to Bibury. I was the Navigator and I did get a little confused with making sure that the A40 wasn't actually a motorway in disguise. It was mostly a pretty easy ride but I did have to concentrate on some sections where the bends were tighter, or shadows darker. At Bibury we wandered by the River Coln to Arlington Row and ended up at the Catherine Wheel for a pizza lunch before meandering back again. It was so nice to be in the sunshine and surrounded by beautiful scenery.Read more

  • Roman villa

    June 21, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

This leg was an interesting ride and required lots of concentration. At one point there was a 14 degree slope with a 50 mile an HR speed limit which we were going down and I needed to turn left off! The road to the Roman Villa was narrow with pot holes galore to avoid, steep slopes both up and down, single laned bridges and so forth. I was glad to make it to the Villa! Who need amusement rides when you can bike instead, haha! Unfortunately it was closed by the time we got here, so we just looked on from the fence line. The villa was rediscovered about 150 years ago and has had an escavation project running with various findings in the museum on site. We shall have to go back again if we want to see what treasures have been discovered!Read more

  • White horse hill

    June 21, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

The sun was warm on our backs as we made our way back to Henley. It was cute watching our shadows dance infront of me as we went around the roun-abouts. We made, or I should say I made, since I was navigator, a slight detour on the way back to White Horse Hill, near Wantage. I was mistaken by the length of the detour and if I thought the road to the villa had been hard work I have no idea what the raid the the Hill was! Several sections were steep decent, left bend, right bend, steep scent and repeat! There's so much to think about when you're riding instead like what's on the road, avoid the man holes, avoid the gravel and silt that's been washed into the road from all the rain, brake gently and don't lock the back wheel, is that car going to move back into their lane, have they seen me and so on.
When we did get to White Horse Hill we were able to enjoy the beautiful golden light hitting the slope where the Horse is and a clear view out across the English countryside.
