Lap of the 48 Complete (For Real This Time)

If you scroll back a couple of months, you'll find a footprint from 25 August. Although it was sincere, it turned out to be false. I hadn't completed the Lap of the 48 ride 😔. Today, I rectified my mistake 💪.

Despite my meticulous planning, I missed a required stop for Iron Butt's Lap of the 48 ride (https://www.ironbutt.com/themerides/rat48/). And despite riding right by the city TWICE this year, I didn't stop in Sault Ste Marie 😱. So, this morning I left Milwaukee and got my photo in SSM to complete the ride 👏👏👏.

As I was getting gas for my DBR (dated business receipt that proves you were where you claimed to be when you claimed to be there), I got a text from the IBA Officiate who had to deny my original submission saying, "Woo Hoo, Sault Ste. Marie!" 🤣🤣 We had spoken on the phone a couple of times, and he was rooting for me to finish it. And now I have!!

I am trying another Iron Butt ride tomorrow, so I got a hotel room tonight. Plus, it's too damn cold out there to camp with the summer-weight gear I have. It's a huge ride, and TBH, I'm not sure I'll be able to complete it, but I'm going to give it a go. In the meantime, wish me luck and watch for tomorrow night's footprint.

Oh! There was an auto parts store next door to the hotel, so I bought some clear coat to try to save Bill Davidson's signature. 🤞🤞🤞
