Marlborough Sounds

A mountain range with valleys full of water. Slowly sinking into the sea the Marlborough Sounds show a stunning act of nature.

Cable Bay: a windy road leading to a beautiful bay with an interesting natural connection to an island dividing the bay.

French Pass: an even more windy road that turned to a gravel road at some point. A scenic route following the mountain range far out to a narrow water passage between the mainland and an island in the sounds. The views are breathtaking and the drive is an adventure, especially with clouds which limited the view for some time.

Pelorus Bridge: A beautiful riverbed, used for a movie scene in The Hobbit. While we were standing on the bridge, a big truck crossed it and it felt like an earthquake, not knowing how the bridge withstands this weight and vibration.Baca lagi
