    We arrived in Apollo Bay late in the day and checked into the backpackers’ hostel we had booked. During check-in, the staff recommended a nearby spot to catch the sunset. We made our way there, wine bottle in hand, hopeful—but the sunset didn’t quite deliver the drama we were expecting. Still, the view over the bay, the ocean breeze, and a shared drink made it more than worth the walk.

    Back at the hostel, we got to work cooking dinner and prepping lunch for the next day. After eating, we went out for a bit of stargazing, but the clouds had other plans—no stars for us that night.

    The next morning brought an unexpected comedy. I opened the fridge to grab our packed lunch and instantly burst out laughing. Sitting on the shelf was a small pesto glass… filled with leftover pasta. Apparently, we’d run out of Tupperware and decided to improvise. Resourceful or ridiculous? Probably both.
