    Between Darkness and Light

    February 3 in Portugal ⋅ 🌧 9 °C

    February 3rd, 7 a.m.
Above the clouds, between darkness and light, the journey begins.
Leaving for Thailand, watching the sun reflect on endless layers of clouds.
Some dark, some glowing—like thoughts before a new chapter unfolds.
Brussels was just the first stop. The real journey had already started.

  • Dark Skies, Golden Horizon

    February 3 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 4 °C

3 February, 13:30 PM – Brussels to Bangkok

Flying with Thai Airways, somewhere between Europe and Asia.
The wing stretches endlessly across the window, dotted with tiny droplets of water, like a quiet reminder of movement and impermanence.
The sky is heavy, dark clouds covering everything, yet a soft stroke of sunlight breaks through — a delicate contrast between storm and hope.
I feel suspended between two worlds, two continents, two versions of myself.
This is not just a flight.
    It feels like a transition.

  • Between Sleep and Wakefulness

    February 5 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C

5 February, 7:00 AM – Bangkok to Hat Yai

Since February 3rd, my days had started at 3 AM.
By the time I reached Bangkok on the 4th, my body was exhausted, but my mind refused to rest. I slept in a small room just to recharge, yet I was afraid to fall into deep sleep and miss the 3 AM alarm for the next flight.

At 7 AM, I boarded the flight to Hat Yai, running on adrenaline, determination, and the quiet excitement of what was ahead.
This was the final step before the islands — a van to Pak Bara Pier, then the boat to Koh Lipe.

    Tired, yes.
But deeply aware that every moment of fatigue was carrying me closer to a dream.

  • 5 February – Pak Bara Pier

    February 5 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

After two days of airports, flights, vans, and constant movement, Pak Bara Pier felt like the first real breath of the tropics.
The water was not yet transparent, but a deep, beautiful shade of green — the kind of green that tells you the islands are close.

In front of the pier, a stretch of land extended into the sea like a long sandy peninsula, covered in dense greenery, untouched by construction.
Near the shore, floating quietly on the sea, was a house of the Urak Lawoi people — sea nomads whose way of life I deeply admire.

My body was exhausted, and my ears were still aching from the flights, a reminder of how much my body had been in transit.
Yet my heart was wide awake.
For the first time on this journey, I felt it: I was truly in the tropics.

  • A Thousand Horses Over Water

    February 5 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Pak Bara Pier → Koh Lipe | Speedboat crossing

The speedboat carried four engines, each with its own roar—pure horsepower cutting through the Andaman Sea.
A thousand horses running over water.

I had never been on a boat with this kind of power before, and I loved the raw force of it.
I sat at the back, where you can actually see and feel the journey—
not on the front seats where everything becomes too clean, too distant.

The sea was alive, jumping against the hull, and I reached down to touch it—warm, even in open water.
The sky looked composed, as if someone had carefully placed each cloud in its exact position.

    Power. Speed. Noise.
And yet… I’ve felt more adrenaline on a sailboat, leaning into the wind, water brushing my hand, moving against the elements, tacking into the wind.
There is something deeper in that kind of motion—less spectacle, more truth.

    Today was about arriving.
    About crossing.
About letting the past stay behind while the islands slowly appeared on the horizon.

    And Koh Lipe was waiting.
