Day 8: Paperwork and Night Hike

I spent most of the day at ACTS Field Station working on the 5E Lesson plan with Jeanne. I collaborated with Moises, Stephany, Erland, and Jhoanna to help identify some of the fish for our Fish ID Guide. I am super proud of how it turned out.

Jeanne and I also worked on the presentation for Sunday. We put together some of the slides. While Jeanne worked on the ArcGIS Story Map, I worked on designing the worksheet, practice ID slides, and the Canva Amazonian Fish ID Guide.

Todd, Ursula’s husband, gave a mini-talk about the climatic effects impacting the world and in particular, the Amazon.

At night, Don Cesar took us on a night hike to see the bioluminescent fungus that glows when it’s completely dark. On the way, we saw a kinkajou.

After my shower, I ran to the classroom to help process a sardine. Stephany and Jhoanna showed me how to take a “tejido” or tissue sample and how to put the “voucher” using a needle and thread. Moises jokingly said I did a terrible job at taking the “tejido,” but hey, it was my first time. 🤷🏻‍♀️😅 Erland came running in with a catfish he had just caught too.
