• Valentines Day

    February 14 in Nicaragua ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

Yesterday we went to the ocean and watched the sun drop into the Pacific. Warm air, crashing waves, a sky turning gold and pink. It felt like God setting the tone before something special.

Today at the finca we hosted a Valentine’s dinner for the parents of the children in our program.

    The interns set the tables.
Cooked with Javier and Gabby’s significant help!!

    Served.
    Poured drinks.
    Cleared plates.

It wasn’t fancy by North American standards — but it was beautiful.

    Table Clothes.
    Smiles.
    Families lingering longer than usual.

Parents being honored instead of always carrying the weight.

There’s something powerful about serving quietly. Not preaching. Not building. Just honoring people.

    Love looks like many things.

Tonight it looked like interns in aprons, parents laughing together, and a simple meal at the finca.

A good reminder that mission is not only projects and programs.

    Sometimes it’s just a table.

And that is it for Mark on this trip as he leaves for Florida to see his valentine on Sunday! As well, the child is Oaklyn, his grandchild in Cochrane, celebrating Valentine’s Day with an announcement.
