Bayfield to Minneapolis - Saint Paul

We checked out of our lovely VRBO and drove to Minneapolis. We stopped at the Minnesota State Capital and went on a tour of the building. It was completed in 1902, and in the style of the time, had European and Victorian influences. Pictures don't capture the interior, so I included a video at the end of the pictures. The dome is the 2nd largest self-supporting marble dome in the world. Our tour took us throughout the building (as expected), and then on the roof to see the city view and the four magnificent gold horses. The sculpture group represents the progress of the state. The horses, women, charioteer, and chariot are covered in 7 layers of 23 carat gold. Outside, we enjoyed the late summer weather (70's) and dazzling blue sky.Read more
