Rio Gallegos

After a little breakfast we were finally back on the bus continuing our way South. Well kind of South, because our next stop Rio Gallegos is mainly just East of Puerto Natales but that's where we need to be to go South 😁 The bus was just half full so the border crossing out of Chile and back into Argentina went really quick.
So we arrived half an hour before the estimated time in the town of La Esperanza. Not exactly a town, just a gas station, hotel and a few huts. There we waited for more than an hour in the nice, warm sun for the bus that is bringing us to Rio Gallegos. Also a perfect spot to enjoy the leftover pizza 🍕 I was able to get in touch with my bank regarding the credit card issue and they are working on a solution. At the scheduled time a bus came with destination Rio Gallegos but it was apparently the wrong one and that ours is coming a little bit later 🤨 We were a little concerned that there wouldn't be another one coming but it really did 😁
A quick two hour drive later we were in Rio Gallegos and walked a kilometer to our hostel where we got a tiny but cheap and comfortable room for the night. We decided to go for a walk to the city center and the main plaza. The plaza was really well made with comfortable benches and large green areas. Besides that the city was rather rundown with messy streets and ruined buildings. The waterfront to the river was better in shape and had some upscale houses. Also the walkway there was nice and offered views to the river and some flamingos in the laguna 🦩

On the way back to the hostel we stopped by a supermarket and decided to buy food to cook later. We also had a nice bottle of wine that we had brought from Chile, the Concha y Toro Shiraz 🥰🍷We had decided for fresh made gnocchi with a nice tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. Honestly one of the best pastas we've had since we're traveling ☺️ And it was especially great with the wine. Happy about that great meal we went to our room and soon afterwards to sleep.Read more
