• Estella to los Arcos

    July 4, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Another hot day in the 90’s. The first town outside of Estella had a wine fountain where pilgrims can fill their cups with free wine. When I was there my all important walking stick fell through a slatted metal gate and landed on the ground about 5 feet below us. There were about 9 of us there and when they saw the look on my face and how I was getting ready to scale the 8 foot fence, they started to try and get it for me. An amazing young German man used his walking poles to lasso the strap of my stick and retrieve it for me. There was applause and I gave him a hug. I have included a photo of him. I also included a photo of my walking mates for today Isabel from Quebec, and Deirdre from South Africa. Our day ended in los Arcos with Paella and a pilgrims mass and blessing. I will need that blessing for tomorrow as we will walk one of the longest sections at 30+ Km or about 18.5 miles. I will be leaving very early to beat the heat. The blister could is up to 3! Sore, hot, and very tired but feeling blessed that I get to walk again tomorrow. All is well and keep on smiling.Read more
