los Arcos to Logrono

The saying here is the first week the Camino brakes you physically, the second week the Camino breaks you mentally, the third week the Camino breaks you spiritually, and if you make it to Santiago you will be reborn. Today was about 20 miles in 90-100 degree heat. As my body began to ache, the heat took away my strength and my mind became fuzzy, I found my gaze and focus turned to about 3-4 feet in front of me. I think this must be a natural defense mechanism to keep you from tripping and falling. I decided to stop to look forward at what was in the future and turned around to see the amazing path I had just walked. If I had not paused for that moment my memory would be of pain, fatigue, and 4 feet of pavement. Thank you Katie Boucher for reminding me to find new joy in the most simple of things.
