This is quite the unique geodome, right in farm country. We can hear the cows off in the distance right now🐄🐮and the haymaker going back and forth. Lots of open skies, so star gazing will hopefully be good tonight...Read more

  • Hopewell Rocks (Low Tide) - Bay of Fundy

    September 4, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 66 °F

We visited Hopewell Rocks on the Bay of Fundy, where they have the largest difference between low and high in the world! Low tide today was 1.5 feet. High tide was 44+ feet!!!

These photos were taken right after low tide, so we were actually able to go and walk on the sea floor. We avoided the mud, for the most part.Read more

  • Hopewell Rocks Tide Comparison

    September 4, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 66 °F

You can see the difference in the tide location from the first two photos. #1 was taken at low tide, while #2 was taken about 3 hours later - still a couple of hours before high tide.

  • Miscou Island Lighthouse

    September 6, 2023, Gulf of Saint Lawrence ⋅ ⛅ 64 °F

    Neat, easy-to-reach lighthouse.
History time here... (*notice the Champlain connection). The French explorer Jacques Cartier navigated along the shores of Miscou as early as July 3, 1534. He named the northern point of the island Cap d'Espérance (Cape of Good Hope), believing he had found the route to the East Indies through the bay that extended westward inland. On July 9, 1534, he named this body of water Chaleurs Bay.

In 1600's, Miscou Island, with it's well sheltered harbour, was busy trading center for fish and fur and played an important role in the early occupation by Europeans of the northern part of the continent.

The name Miscou was first mentioned by Samuelle de Champlain in 1623. The name then followed several variations such as: Muscoe (1680), Michkou (1685), Petite Île Miscou (1686), Isle de Saint Louis in Jesuit relations, then again Miscou in 1744.

  • Kouchibouguac National Park

    September 8, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 70 °F

Drove thru the park (pronounced similar to Koo-she-BOO-gwock), still in New Brunswick. Got a bit of WiFi connection while at the Visitor Center, and then walked along the marsh boardwalk, ending at the beach ⛱️ for a quick picnic🧺.Read more

  • Our Fun Cabin on P.E.I.

    September 8, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

After arriving on Prince Edward Island this afternoon, we made our way over to our uniquely quirky cabin. (VIDEO link below) It is loaded with fun one-of-a-kind decorations. And everything necessary is here in this small space too! Looking forward to having these large windows 🪟🪟 open for the warm, moist breezes tonight and the next. ( Update: windows became essential, as a hot & humid summer weekend arrived. All were open wide, night and day)

  • Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place

    September 9, 2023 in Canada ⋅ 🌬 73 °F

This was a must-see museum tour on the national Parks Canada list. It is based on the beloved fictional character, Anne. Its intent was to make the 1908 novel blend with the real-life experiences of local author Lucy Maud Montgomery, who drew inspiration from the idyllic farmstead and its red woodland pathways.
Besides the historic feeling of the place, especially inside the home, we thoroughly enjoyed the natural trails!

  • The Dunes Studio Gallery & Cafe

    September 9, 2023 in Canada ⋅ 🌬 77 °F

This was a doubly recommended place to visit, by sisters in a congregation on the island. Free to tour, even without buying a meal! We are pleased that we went to look for this place! Being that we needed lunch, we splurged for an elegant one 😋. And it was healthy, loaded with flavors.
Geoff's flower photography 📸 will be featured on another trip footprint (or maybe 2.)
